Taken from the famous work "Civitates Orbis Terrarum" (Cities of the World) by Braun and Hogenberg, both natives of Cologne, published in 6 volumes between 1572 and 1617. The Civitates was the first systematic work to exclusively show city plans and was designed to complement Abraham Ortelius' contempory atlas the "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" (Theatre of the World) - the first modern atlas of the world.
