'Wolstenholme, (Charles) Dean, the younger (1798–1883), sporting painter and engraver, was born on 21 April 1798 near Waltham Abbey, Essex, the eldest son of Dean Wolstenholme (1757–1837), animal painter, and his wife, Mary Stabler. Dean Wolstenholme junior, as he was known, was first taught to paint by his father but the origin of his considerable engraving ability is lost' (ODNB).
